#2 I have a work permit
#3 I now have a job! A dream Job
#4 We moving to Auckland in a week!
So lets start a little earlier. Living down in Hawkes bay has been divine. Mummy Ada and Phil have been so super patient with our stuff taking forever to arrive. And now that they have things are starting to move quickly!
Hawkes Bay is a better looking Stellenbosch (if you could ever get one) and we are sad to be leaving the beautiful views and happy people. We have made some great friends out here. For me Its definitely been the awesome people at Sustaining Hawkes Bay Trust. Which has been such a great experience and I have enjoyed so much helping and thinking and creating some awesome new stuff for them.
So it took ages to got my work permit. But now that I have, I interviewed with one the largest companies here in NZ, Fletcher Building and…I got the job. A dream job, doing all the things I love love love. But its up in Auckland so we move to Auckland this week. That makes 6 Major Moves in 22 months. Hopefully now we can settle down and put our heads down and concentrate on working hard, making some friends, walking the dog :) (or dogs if we find a nice SPCA sister for little missy-moo!)(and…a house that will accept dogs)
We have so many goals we have put ourselves forward for, and now we have the opportunity to achieve some of them!
We haven't really been getting up to to much lately…mainly because we were waiting for all my paper work to come through. But we have doing a lot of walking, because everything here is just so pretty and sparkling and green!
We also recently received our pictures from Genna; our wedding photographer who sent us the most divine images. Here is our favourite!
I will have to post our 365 Photo album at a later stage because its FILLED with awesome pictures!
So yes! Off to Auckland for us! Big change ahead! It seems everyone I know is up in Auckland. So that makes the move a little easier. We’ll be living on the South Shore – Close to Sharon (Cheryl's niece…literally like 200m away) which will be AWESOME! Because it means we have awesome fantastic people right round the corner. When I went up for the interviews with Fletchers, I stayed with them for 2 nights – I’ll tell you what, I hadn’t seen them for like 6 years – maybe even longer – but it was like we hadn’t not seen each other. It was great. It was like putting on Granny Eva’s knitted socks…its just fits.
The weather in New Zealand is probably the hardest to get used to. Coming from 3 separate hot countries…to FREEZING NZ winter was hard. But I have KINDA acclimatised. I’m not wearing my Arctic Survival Jacket everyday any more. I can now survive with a single jersey….although they ASJ is ALWAYS within reach.
I have become pro gum boots. Pro walking. Pro organics. Pro chemical free. Pro Bicycles. Pro Dr Hauschka. :) NZ makes living healthy and recycling just SO easy. Its like its a natural order of things. Like “ok everyone – this is just how everything works – cardboard here – glass there – tins over there – bad attitudes over there” :)
I think the thing I love the most is the news. When we first arrived the biggest news in Napier was a drive-by shooting. Yeah. Violent attack on civilians. Please understand that Napier is a small town…tiny. Maybe the size of Dullstroom. So a drive by shooting is tragic….It was with a paint ball gun….hahahahaha…no one was actually hurt….at all….but it was what got all the news! I think Auckland might come with some petty crime, but then again every big city in the world does. So its to be expected that you lock your car doors (where in Napier you don't)
I look forward to updating more when we get settled in Auckland! :)
Miss everyone! Look forward to everyone's news!
Big love.
Niki and Dustin!
